  • Subtitles – Rasterized or Not?

I am trying to move my DVD collection to a server and there appears to be no format that the various media players accept to make them appear to be a DVD (i.e. with the menu screens and chapter points I painstakingly made). It seems like the best one is a .MKV file type, which is supported by Divx.

Anyway, I converted one of my DVDs with their converter and the subtitles do not show up. I sent a note to Divx support, and this is their response:

DivX Plus Converter can include SRT, SSA/ASS, and DVD/XSUB.

DivX Plus profile does not support rasterized DVD/XSUB subtitles.

So, since I made the DVD with Encore, does anyone know if it uses rasterized DVD/XSUB subtitles?

    Thanks,
    Pauley
