    Hi all

I have 3 uncompresses HD video files. In total of 39,7 GB. I know if I burn them to DVD they will chance from 1920×1080 to 720×576. At the moment I don’t have problems with this. For teaser promo is great.

But If I ask Adobe Encore CS5 to transcode automatic I only get 315MB to burn on my DVD. That compression is way to high. If you watch it on screen it’s great. But if you project it, it just won’t do.

Isn’t there a way to compress the 39,7GB to nearly the 4,39GB the max. capacity of the DVD?

    hi chris,
you need to do a bitbutgeting first!

    https://files.moviedesign.de//mrBitbudget.sit

    and set the required bitrates.

then your film will fit onto the entire disk.

    cheers

    Ok, thanks.

Never heard of bitbutgeting. Is there somewhere a how to?
    https://www.planfilmberlin.com/ seems to be offline.

Total time is 4minute 45, so to make it easy I chose 5 minutes of video and audio 192 KBS. That gives me 120,128 MBPS for DVD5.

    Now what?
The project setting won’t allow me to ho higher than 9.0 Mbps?

Maybe a example of the files and there size:
    https://img37.picoodle.com/i526/cd_be/co_4da_u90ow.png

And the encode sizes are now:
    Bits & Pieces HQ: 45,65mb
    Pressentatie HQ: 141,8mb
    Pressentatie met key HQ: 127,7mb

    thanks

    hey chris,
you need to know a bit more about DVD-specs to do DVD-authoring.

    DVD-spec is a max. data-rate about 10.08MBit/s for all assets (video/audio/subtitles).

    a DVD-/+R could only have approx. 8-8.5MBit/s.

if you have a 4-5min film I would advice to use 7.8MBit/s CBR and 192kbit/s AC-3 dolby audio.

    cheers

PS: yes – the website is down – old application, old company, I just keept it and put it in my download-area, so newbabies will have an easy to use butbiteging-application. 🙂

    Hey Danny

    hehehe, only a bit more.

I thought I would be more logical in encore. That encore automatically choses the best compression to put it just on the disk.

But with your settings it’s a bit better.

From 45,65 mb to 51,2 mb
From 141,8 mb to 159 mb
From 127,7 mb to 143,3 mb

So thats a increase of 12%. It’s something. But to burn 353,6mb on DVD is a bummer for the DVD.

time to play with those settings xD.

well, if you only have 4-5min video it´ll end up at small data, of course, but if you´ll have 90-180min, that´s another story.

    cheers
