2 hours 50 min project
Posted by Abel Rey on May 26, 2010 at 10:29 pmi made a 2 hours and 50 min project from premiere cs4 to encore. in a test i made of a litle part of it i had a very good quality in 8 mb transcode but for all the project i needed 11.50 giga so i made 5.9 mb that took 8.4 giga to put in a dual layer disc. the problem is that it came not in a good quality like the test in 8 mb. is there any chances to make 2:50 hours of good quality?

May 27, 2010 at 6:12 amInstead of CBR,transcode your video files using VBR 2-pass bitrate settings (Min:1.5 mbps, Target:4 mbps, max: 7-8 mbps).

May 27, 2010 at 10:02 amAre you using CBR or VBR to transcode the assets?. I would suggest you to use a VBR 2 pass preset with maximum bitrate @ 8 mbps and target bitrate @ 4 mbps. This should give you a high quality output.

May 27, 2010 at 10:31 ami will try it but i dont belive it will work because its lower than 5.9 and as i told you i see very bad in 5.9 but with higher target bitrate (8) i see very good but it takes a lot of place. i will try and tell you ( last time it took me 12 hours so we will wate a bit)

May 27, 2010 at 10:39 amThen let Encore decides the bitrate. Why don’t you use the Encore’s automatic preset?

May 28, 2010 at 11:04 pmi found the problem why i see sometimes good and sometimes bad.
its not a quality problem.
once i copied the project to another location in a wrong way. instead of importing i copied. after this i imported into it so i got 2 sources in the project panel and i have clips made good (by import) and other clips made wrong by copy. i tried to refer the bad clips to the source by selecting a clip and “Replace with clip From bin” but i got the all source (from its begining ) and not the edited clip with its right long efects etc. then i tried to do “replace footage” to the source avi that the bad clips are refered to – but it didnt succede. i think i need a way to tell every damage part to refere to the source and keeping its efects -

June 5, 2010 at 3:06 pmNot sure about your copying of files instead of importing theory, but I will say that almost 3 hours of footage is tough for Encore to encode. I had a similar experience with about 100min trying to fit on a single layer DVD. Here is the link of my experience with a summary on the end.

Also, make sure you use AC3 audio.Pauley
