  • Mastering with DLT vs DVD-R

Having playback issues with my last order of replicated DVDs (NTSC). They will play in some but not all players. I need the disks to be as reliable as store bought DVDs.

The replicators are telling me both DVD-R or DLT will work for masters and that they will copy an EXACT version of my DVD-R.

My question is since DVD-R disks don’t play in all set top dvd players and they are making an exact copy of that, should I be going with DLT?

I am not setup for DLT and would prefer DVD-R but will switch if this will make them work.

Also is Encore good enough software for authoring DVDs to be as reliable as what the big budget companies are using?

    Thx. Joel

DVD-R and replication should never be used in the same sentence.

The problem could be in the replication run as well. Only way to know is to verify the original image to the replicated discs using Eclipse & MEI verification process.
