• Adobe Encore DVD

  File Size Question

  Can somebody please tell me what is going on here?
  I have one m2v video clip encoded in Adobe Media Encoder from PPRO sequence.

  Windows Explorer said that it is 3.87 GB,
  but Adobe Encore said it is 4.29 GB.
  Encore project is totaly empty,just this one clip,no menu, no audio…
  Before I import this in Encore it said that 2.05 KB is used, 4,7 GB free.
  After import just this one clip Encore said 4.29 GB used, 409.5 MB free.
  This is crazy.
  Which information is right? Windows or Encore?
  BTW when AME give me estimated file size it was totaly diferent from these two, I dont remember…

  In Windows, file sizes are based on powers of 2. So one MB equals 1024 KB. DVD disc file sizes are based on powers of 10. One MB equals 1000 KB.

  Thanx for response.

  Please tell me if I want to encode PPRO sequence into m2v and ac3 file in AME for DVD authoring in Encore, what is target file size for those two, when ajusting bit rate.For example DVD without menu, just one timeline?Just to be safe.I dont want to go with avi into Encore.

  So far, I think the AME file size estimates are pretty good. But without using a bit rate calculator, you have to spend a lot of time changing the bit rate settings in the AME by trial and error.

  Fill in the calculator parameters that you already know, and then use the results of the calculation to set your bit rate values in the AME. When you do that, the AME should give you a good estimate of the file size. For programs longer than 90 minutes, it should come very close to filling up the disc.
