  • Change background when you scroll through buttons

Posted by Jaco Rossouw on February 13, 2009 at 10:28 am

    Hi guys,
    i have encore 1.5 and 2.0

I need to change the background while scrolling through the menu.
    ex:

    clip1 (image1)
    clip2 (image2)
    clip3 (image3)

will be on the menu, and as you scroll down from top to bottom i would like a different image in the background to appear.

think it would be on the buttons selected or active state?

DVD-Video doesn’t support this feature for menus. But you can work around it.

You need a separate menu for each time you want the background to change, and link to each new menu via buttons set to Auto-Activate. When the button linked to the new menu is selected, it then activates, taking you to the next menu.

The disadvantage to this method is if you mouse over the button in a software DVD player, it will not auto-activate. The user must click the button to go to the next menu. Limitation of the format.

Also if you have any audio playing in the background, the audio will start over each time you move to the next button.

thanks for the help so far, seems like i will have to try a different program, any ideas of one that could do this?
alternatively, can i just let a thumbnail image appear each time?
    thanks again

What you are trying to do is not something that can be done in the DVD-Video format without the workaround mentioned previously.
