Burning a Blu-ray image to a DVD-R
Posted by Sean Oneil on September 3, 2008 at 7:48 pmIs it possible to author an create a Blu-ray image and burn it to a DVD-R? I have a 3 minute piece and it’s only 500 megs. Hate to waste a blank BD. Has anyone tried this?

September 3, 2008 at 10:31 pmI just tried it. It worked but the picture skipped and stuttered occasionally.

September 3, 2008 at 10:51 pmHere’s a couple of threads about this. I got ImgBurn to make a playable BluRay disk on DVD after burning the BluRay Image with Encore.
Also, you can edit the BluRay folder so you can play the DVD on PlayStation 3.
Whether the BluRay player works, though, depends on whether there is new firmware installed.

September 18, 2008 at 11:51 amPicture skipping is normal because the DVD can’t handle the data rate. We’ve tried it several times and it always skips on our end. Non-printable BluRays have come down quite a bit in price and now I’m seeing BluRay players for $270 in Costco so it’s nice to see that the entire format is coming down in price quickly.
