  Burning a Blu-ray image to a DVD-R

  Is it possible to author an create a Blu-ray image and burn it to a DVD-R? I have a 3 minute piece and it’s only 500 megs. Hate to waste a blank BD. Has anyone tried this?

  I just tried it. It worked but the picture skipped and stuttered occasionally.

  Here’s a couple of threads about this. I got ImgBurn to make a playable BluRay disk on DVD after burning the BluRay Image with Encore.

  Also, you can edit the BluRay folder so you can play the DVD on PlayStation 3.

  Whether the BluRay player works, though, depends on whether there is new firmware installed.

  Picture skipping is normal because the DVD can’t handle the data rate. We’ve tried it several times and it always skips on our end. Non-printable BluRays have come down quite a bit in price and now I’m seeing BluRay players for $270 in Costco so it’s nice to see that the entire format is coming down in price quickly.
