I am a new user working on my first project in Adobe Encore DVD 1.5. The project features menus of simple text buttons leading to photo slideshows. What I would like is for a small sound effect to play when navigating through the buttons (for example, a “plink” sound when a button is highlighted). Is this possible?

It’s not an available feature for buttons or menus in the DVD-Video format.

However, you can do a workaround, using multiple menus (each menu has a different button highlighted, and the menu itself has the button sound), and the auto-activate button feature.

Note that if you have lots of buttons, you will have lots of menus and linking to do. Also note that this workaround will not work with a software DVD player – the user will have to click the button to get to the next menu with sound effect.

Yes, but it involves the use of several duplicate menus and the auto-activate function.

Even if set up correctly, it still may not behave exactly as you hope it will. And it definitely won’t work on software DVD players.
