  DVD playing problem

  Sorry…may be a newbie question, but…
  I use Canopus as my video editor. When I create the DVDin Encore (1.5), it works fine on my DVD player, but sometimes has problems on other DVd players. Are there settings I should be using so that it works correctly on anyone’s DVD player?

  You can’t ever guarantee universal compatibility on all players when using burned discs. Percentages vary from about 80% to 90%.

  Some things you can do to improve your chances are:

  1a. Keep your max video bit rate between 7 Mbps and 8Mbps. If the combined audio and video bit rate is close to the DVD spec limit, many players will choke when playing burned discs. 7 – 8 Mbps leaves plenty of room for audio and a “buffer”.

  1b. Use high-quality blank media – Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim. Stay away from Memorex and Fuji.

  2. Update the firmware on your burner.

  3. Burn at a speed that is no faster than one-half the rated speed of your blank media or one-half the rated speed of your burner, whichever is less.

  4. Go get a cup of coffee while you burn, and save the email reading, IM’ing and web surfing until you are done burning.
