  subpicture question

  Because of some motion backgrounds in a menu I am working on, the text for the menu items is actually in the background avi. I’m trying to create some subpicture items so the viewer can select the item they want, but I can’t figure out how to make the subpicture invisible until it is active. Like the default Entertainment menu, where the little line under the word PLAY is invisible until the word PLAY is active and then selected.

  Can someone explain this, point me to an article or tutorial that goes through it?

  Can I do this by turning off the subpicture’s “normal” layer?
