I’m trying to animate with AE cameras a WWII map of Europe with symbols that I would like to stand on a map.

In my scene, I want to have “soldier/troop” symbols representing divisions standing on the map (the symbols standing 90 degrees perpendicular to the map) and have my AE camera fly in.

But so far I keep running into problems. I’m not sure whether to use a one or two node camera for this. Not sure whether to animate “orientation” or X,Y,Z rotation. And not sure whether I should be rotating the map in X,Y,Z or the camera.

I want my camera to fly into the map at a 45 degree angle to simulate 3D scene instead of just seeing the map in 2D head on.

Would very much appreciate any suggestions. Thanks very much in advance.
