Hello, I am attempting to build a dvd for a project I have been working on for about 4 months. All has gone swell thus far, I have my motion menu’s working and most of my clips transcoded, although when I attempt to transcode (either using the ‘transcode now’ function or when building the disk) my ‘large’ 1.5 hour, 20GB file, Adobe Encore 1.0 crashes about 1/2 way during the first pass.

This is extremely frustrating and I need to deliver tomorrow! Is there anything i could do to fix it? (I’ve tried about 5 times). Could any of you recommend a trial version or free download of a good MPEG-2 Transcoder (or encoder..I’m not sure what they are called) that would create a good quality PAL Widescreen MPEG-2 File?

I’m on a machine with 1GB RAM, athlon 2800+, and 50GB HD space

    Thanks in advance

You should try TMPEG (free, but difficult to tame) or the standalone version of the MainConcept Encoder (which is basically what Encore and After Effects use). It will run as a 14 day trial. I’m sure you could find other options if you do a little searching.
