  hd to not so hd

  I have a project shot with a Sony FX1 which is half finished in FCPX. I want to purchase a PMW 200. Can someone till me with 100% accuracy that I will be able to join both footages together on the same project?

  No problem.
  Even in FCP.7 both footages can work together.

  So I would have no trouble joining the new footage into the timeline with the old on fcpx?

  The best of FCPX is that allows to work directly with many formats that in FCP.7 needed transcoding.
  The two formats you are dealing with are supported by QT/FC since years.
