  Sony battery vs. the competition

  I’d appreciate hearing from people who have an opinion about the durability and value of the Sony BP-U60 battery.

  I’m trying to add weight on the back of a shoulder-mount bracket, and could use a Gold Mount, V-mount, or a dual BP battery mount back there. I’d prefer to stick with BPs, just to avoid the need to pack multiple chargers.

  I use one. It has been great. Runs a very long time. I don’t know how it compares to the clones out there.

  Sony batteries work fine but they are WAY overpriced. Take a look at the Switronix “Series 7” batteries here:

  They fit the same Sony charger as the U-60 so you don’t need a separate charger. I can run my EX1R cameras all day and still have two lights of reserve power.
