  • Some DPX fail to import to CS5.5

Posted by Richard Edwards on February 2, 2012 at 3:49 pm

I’ve come across some DPX files that just refuse to import to After Effects CS5.5. The Files will import to every other version of AE I can find and every other piece of software (Nuke, Prem Pro 5.5, Photoshop 5.1, Scratch etc).
There is no error message, no crash.
The files came from Lowry Digital and from the new Sony F3 camera.
Every other DPX file I’ve been given still open just fine.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Cheers Richard.

Another user reported a similar problem [link] last summer. I think there’s a bug with the DPX import handler, but I don’t know if it’s been resolved yet.

What is the bit-depth of those files?

    10 Bit.
Cineon log color space as is standard and as I say they open fine in After Effects CS 5.
