  Suitable iMac 27-inch 3.1GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

  Hi chaps,I’m sure these sort of questions are not very popular but the wealth of knowledge here and my hesitation (because my knowledge is limited and this will be a major expenditure) – I can’t really afford a Mac pro, I’m only doing a little AE work these days but when I do my old iMac with 4gb ram and dual processors is sooooo slow, I’m hoping this will offer a little improvement. What do you reckon ?

  You can get an older second hand MacPro at a decent price. A dual dual core Xeon will run Snow Leopard and CS 5.5 and if you max out the RAM you will have a great AE machine for some time.

  Good point Ted and thanks for the link Walter those figures are quite frightening … good of you both and food for thought … even ‘used’ though plus a monitor the pro starts to push the budget, still that’s my problem, maybe I’ll have to struggle along with my old iMac until I make a little more freelance money in order to buy a Mac pro.
