Almost every time I work with sound in AFX I get weird bugs; ‘Unspecified Directshow error’ ‘There is not enough memory to complete this task’ etc. Funny thing is i have loads of RAM. It doesn’t seem to purge anything when working with sound files, the RAM fills up and eventually AFX crashes.
I’ve had this problem since AFX 4.0
    Please Help.
I work on a Dual-Zeon, 2 gigs RAM, Quatro card, Audigy 3000- Sound card.
    Thanks.

Are you working with MP3 files? If so, convert them to WAV or AIFF.

If that’s not the problem, are you working with unique audio codecs? Have you updated your DirectX?

    Tried that.

It helps a bit, but the workflow eventually gets corupted no matter what I do. I think it’s maybe a Windows problem.

    Thank you anyway.

Have you tried stripping the comp down, troubleshooting-style, to one element? One audio track, nothing else?

    Switching off OpenGL?
    Trashing the prefs file?

    (more stabs)
