Syncing Ex1 and 5D mk2
I’ve shot interviews with the sony ex1 at 1080 24P and the 5D mk2 at the same 1080 24P. I want to work with everything in prores so I’m using MPEG Streamclip to convert footage from both cameras. At first I converted everything to 1080 24P. However I was warned against editing within FCP at an editing timebase of exactly 24fps. https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1101366
So I converted everything using the frame rate 23.98 however now my footage will slowly fall out of sync. What would be the best solution here when trying to snyc the two camera together in post using converted prores files.

The EX1 shoots 23.98.
What did you shoot with the 5D mk2?
What was your audio source, in camera, external audio? -
Make sure your converted footage really is 23.976 for both cameras. I know that the 5D shoots straight 30p as well and people have sync issues when using 29.97 from a video camera if they’re unaware of the difference. I don’t know if I’d trust MPEG Streamclip implicitly for the transcode. Maybe try a test with a bit of footage from both cameras but this time let Compressor handle it. See if that makes a difference.

If you are not sure if they are 24 or 23’976:
Transcode the files with MPGStreamclip. Don’t write nothing in the “Frame rate” window, so will be no time base change.
Bring the files to CinemaTools and Conform to 23’976.
