Firmware required for 32gb SxS?

I need to arrange a rental for another EX3 camera next month since ours are in service all at the same time. I plan to use it with 32GB SxS Pro cards but can’t remember if there’s a firmware issue. I know there was with older EX1s (ours was new enough) but I never saw anything online about an issue with the EX3 and these cards (again, ours was new enough). I just did a bunch of googling and reading the PDF brochure for 32GB SxS Pro cards on the Sony site and found nothing.

While it’s very clear that there are firmware issues regarding SxS-1 cards on older models of both cameras, I can’t seem to find anything about the EX3 and 32GB SxS Pro. I figured I’d throw it out here and see if any of y’all have any additional information.

Hi Clint,

You can use the 32 GB SxS Pro cards with any version of EX3 firmware. The only software restriction is that 1.10 is required for SxS-1 cards, Memory Sticks and SDHC cards.

What about the new EX-1 R is there a firmware up date for it or will it work with the 32 gig cards right out of the box?

Hi Ronnie,

No update required for EX1R. Will support 32 GB SxS-Pro out of the box.

could you complete the clarification and tell me if the 32 gig sxs will work with the EX1 (original model not R) with firmware 1.11_0531?

Hi Hilary,

Yes, the 32 GB SxS Pro cards will work in any EX-1 with 1.11 or higher firmware.

Hi,

I have oy EX3 and works using 8GBs. However, it doesn’t work with 32GB. (The yellow colred ones – I think SXS-1). How (or where) can I check the virsion (firmware) # for my camera?

My second question is if I buy 32 GB SxS Pro do you think that it works?
