EX-1 Footage, Black to Red
Well I’ve seen this happen before but never like this. I have some footage that I shot with the EX-1 that I’m exporting, and the black clothing of my subject has a red tint to it when I export it. I’m editing XDCAM24p footage in Final Cut Studio 6.06 with the recommended sequence settings when draggin the footage onto the time line, and no color correction, filters, or any alterations. My friend was wearing all black in a well lit room with 2 incandescent lamps. I used 32k preset color temp and my picture profile was pretty basic (nothing crazy). Like I said, the footage looks fine on my timeline, completely natural as it should. I’ve run into this problem professionally before, when the EX-1 records black as brown. I can’t remember if its the type of material or the light temperature which causes this unfortunate phenomenon, but that didn’t happen in this case. For some reason my basic “export to quicktime movie” causes the brown/redness to escalate in his pants, not so much in his shirt. This really isn’t anything important, just some friends goofing off. Can anyone shed some light on this phenomenon?
