I am having problems with editors unable to read the.mov files imported fro the card via XDCAM transfer. I can access them in FCP Studio and quicktime X, but they dont seem to be able to read them in QT 7 or pro.

Id like to had over the unedited files as opposed to exporting them via FCP. Is there an xdcam codec needed for the editors to read these files?

    thanks

Both Quicktime X and 7 have access to the codec if you have it installed. I’ve tested this personally.

Only FCP 6.0.2 installs the codec otherwise one must buy the CalibratedSoftware codec to play EX .mov files on non FCP systems.

You should NOT be giving editor EX MOV files. That’s what the BPAV camera masters are for. They can convert or re-wrap to whatever they need. Even FCP can export and edited program back to EX .MP4 (BPAV should be created in ClipBrowser) if someone needs to use the output on non FCP system.
