  ex1r sd footage transfer

  I am very new to the xdcam ex workflow. I just bought an ex1r and shot some footage in 1080i and had no problem using final cut to import… choose file, import, sony xdcam and it opens xdcam transfer software I downloaded and all my clips pop up. But neither the xdcam ex browse or transfer software will list the files I shot in sd. Can someone tell me what I am missing?

  Check your owner’s manual for DVCAM (SD) recording and transfer. I don’t have a manual for the EX1R and I can’t find one online. However, the EX1R brochure talks about DVCAM mode as using the “conventional” way of transferring footage to computer. That suggests to me that you may have to hook your camera up via firewire in order to transfer the standard def. footage.
