Global trekking animation
Someone on this forum may have some ideas and lead me in the right direction. I have been really interested in emulating the zooming on the global effect found in feature films. It involves zooming on particular regions of the globe, to the city level. It does not have to be as complex as tracking the camera through the atmosphere to the city view. The animation would have a vector approach like a traditional map. Go from a global map with all the nations; to a subway-like map. Obtaining graphic assets remain my main concern. Where do I find high quality vector images of the globe with political boundaries?
Second, does a tutorial exists for creating this effect in After Effects? I am looking for a cross between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Dogtown and Z-boy look. I need the effect to introduce people’s home country in relation to the present location. Viva La Bam has similar animation transitions when Bam and his crew travel from Westchester to wherever. In my scenario, the people may come from over 70 nations, so generating the graphics for each part would be huge challenge.
