    All:

Sorry for a dumb question … I am packing up my EX1 for firmware upgrade at Sony Teaneck. On their website Sony’s packing instructions say, “remove the lens before shipping.” After pouring through the owner’s manual and several websites, I cannot find the instructions for removing the lens from an EX1.

Is it removable and should I remove it before shipping? Thanks in advance.

    Don’t remove the lens.

When we’ve sent our Canon XL series cameras in for factory service, they’ve always advised removing anything that’s removable (aside from the lens cap) and they’ve provided a note of everything that was attached to the camera upon arrival to our work order.

Since the EX1 lens is not removable, I’m guessing it’s okay to leave it attached 😉 It would be interesting to see what they would do if someone sent them an EX1 with the lens pried off…any volunteers?
