  First SDHC purchase

  I’ve checked out my new EX-1 with a Sandisk 8GB card I got locally and now I’m about to purchase eight 16GB cards to get up and running. I guess the consensus here is that Sandisk seems to be getting cold feet re their relationship with Sony on SxS, so Transcend appears to be the way to go. On their website there are two 16GB card types, a ‘standard’ SDHC for $54.90, a ‘video’ SDHC for $55.90, and also a 150x 8GB card for $94.50. Has the testing by the resident gurus been with the standard or video flavor. Sometimes what would at first glance appear to be the indicated choice can turn out to be exactly the wrong one! Anybody tested this 150x? Maybe it has a higher overcrank capability…

  Standard SDHC Ultra II (although Extremes work too but there’s no apparent advantage).

  There does seem to be issues of compatibility cropping up with newer Sandisk SDHC cards.
  Make sure you buy at a place where you can exchange or return them.

  What you should be looking for is the SDHC Class 6.

  Not necessarily the case with Sandisk cards.
  Transcend must be class 6 though.

  I’m using Sandisk 32GB Ultra II Class 2 and they’re working fine.
  People are having problems with the newer Class 4 cards though. Seems Sandisk has its own fluctuating set of rules.

  I would stick with the Transcend class 6. Amazon is a great place to buy them. They have consistently proven to be reliable.
  That said, if you want even more peace of mind, check out Hoodman. They have just released their own line of SDHC cards which they promote a 100% success rate guarantee. I believe their Express Card adapter is the same as the MxR, but they sell their own SDHC. They are quite a bit more expensive than Transcend however.

  I have 6 Transcend 16GB class 6 and have been very happy with them.
