    Hi All,

I am trying to download off Sony the transfer software for the SxS cards for my Macbook Pro running Avid.

But all the softwares available on the site say they are for FCP.

Is there one specifically for Avid? Which one is the correct one?

    Here is the site:
    https://www.sony.ca/xdcamex/support.htm

I downloaded PDZK-P1 XDCAM Transfer Version 2.9 which seems to be for FCP.

Also the 34 slot on my laptop: does it read Sony Pro SxS cards?

    Thank you!

Beginning with Media Composer and Symphony 3.5, XDCam EX support is native to the application. You can work directly from the cards or from a copy on a hard drive or disk. The feature is called AMA (Avid Media Access).

The page workflow guide are currently obsolete. they do reference possible workflows for pre 3.5 versions of the software starting on I believe page 37.

The Sony web page you listed has a driver for the SxS cards at the bottom.

Actually, I inserted the SxS cards but cannot import the media into Avid.

    Macbook does read the card.

But when selecting Import XDCAM Proxy in Avid it indicates that no XDCAM volumes are found.

Has this happened to other people?

Ops, I thought my signature had the specs.

    Here they are:
Macbook Pro – 2.56. GHZ Core 2 Duo
    4GB Memory
    OS X 10.5.6
    Avid Media Composer 3.0.1

    Thanks for the assistance.

Proxies are only for the disk based version of XDCam. What version MC do you have? By the way, software version, computer model and operating system version should be part of any question asked. Cuts out some of the guess work for the people trying to help you.

You would be very well served by upgrading to 3.5. I realize telling you to spend $300 is not the answer you were looking for. Unfortunately, this is the first version of the software that really addresses XDCam EX.

Actually that is incorrect. I found the solution.

The correct software to download was XDCAM EX Browser for Mac Version 2.5 from the Sony site and also install the card driver. After which it is possible to export the media via the clip browser as MXF files and then import the MXF files into Avid 3.0.1.

    4GB Memory
    OS X 10.5.6
    Avid Media Composer 3.0.1
