Finally, an affordable HD minicam – meant to be £1100 UKP or so. I’ve had a play with one and it’s just what we’ve been looking for

November 9, 2008 at 7:17 pmTiny cameras that shoot HD have been available for under $200 for a while now. But nothing beats good optics, big chips and quality DSP. Not going to find those in a minicam for what it’s worth.

November 10, 2008 at 9:41 amVery strange statement,of course you’re not going to match with bigger cameras, but for those of us who shoot HD and NEED a minicam solution for in-cockpit and in-car work, this is a great product. I know that there are small HD cameras out there but the PQ is generally awful. The PQ on this setup is considerably better.

November 11, 2008 at 3:57 amSorry you found my statement, ‘very strange.’ I call em like I see them. Anyways- back ot: have you actually had a chance to see footage from this camera? They all sound great on specs but I’ve yet to experience a tiny camera that offers amazing HD. Solid, potentially usable in a pinch yes- but nothing to write home about.

November 11, 2008 at 1:06 pmWell of course bigger chips and better lenses would be good that’s a no-brainer but remember we are talking about specialist applications here, sure when we’re getting in-cockpit footage from an F18 fighter Jet I’d LOVE to put an F35 with prime lenses in however as that isn’t possible then you have to use cameras like this.
To answer your question I have seen footage from this camera and it’s very good
