I have read some posts on this issue but I can’t seem to find them now..
I have an EX-1 that I sent in for the firmware 1.11 upgrade to make it work with the PHU-60K hard drive. After recording about 30 seconds on the drive, an error message comes up saying media error A (or B if that is the slot it is in.)
I seem to remember this being a problem for other people as well.
Is the issue with the hard drive or the upgrade?
Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated!!

This drive does not work. Tested multiple units on multiple cameras EX1 / EX3. Many other users report the exact same problem. I read that the USB connection Sony uses cannot sustain the data rates for this camera. Avoid this unit like the plague. Don’t get PHU-60K’d Get some KxS cards instead and save a TON of money. Unfortunately Sony did not test this unit before shipping and once again uses their loyal customers for R&D.

I have had mine for a month now and it works perfectly on my EX3.

It even switches from HD to a card, or visa versa, on a long recording session just fine.

    Not a single error yet.
