  • FIN files – are they touchable?

I can call myself an editor because I started out with a 16mm guillotine tape splicer and rewinds nailed to planks in the mid 80’s. but I’m not a computer wiz. Back in Final Cut 1.2 I used to lose the functionality of entire projects because it said ” FIN file missing”. I still can’t bring myself to throw a FIN away. or atleast not w/o fear of hellish retributory gremlin throwdowns. can anyone shine light into my superstitious cave?

I wish to slay the FIN.

FIN is the render file and you don’t need it if you are finished with the project. It is the PROJECT file you should always keep. Shane Ross was a wonderful DVD out called “Getting Organized in Final Cut” and you can find him over on the Final Cut forum. Shane also recommends you keep the auto save folder when archiving a project.

    Good Luck
