What is the best way to monitor the signal from the EX-1 on an SD monitor in the field?

We’re currently using the AV connector, but this is kludgey at best. Can we monitor via the SD out on the back of the camera? I haven’t been able to get this working.

    Thanks,
    Chris

You can monitor SD via the HDSDI connection on the back.

I wish I was good at one thing rather than average at many, but oh well.

    Rick,

    Thanks for your reply.

I thought that was the case, but I haven’t been able to get that to work… Any suggestions?

If you want to see the HDI/SDI out in a NTSC or PAL monitor you need to convert that signal (digital) to NTSC or PAl (analog) . You need a video card to do that. For example an AJA ioHD.

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.
