I am setting up my new EX1 and find that using the manual white balance I get a too cold picture (silly Kelvin readings) and with the Auto White Balance (aagh) much too warm a picture. Has anyone else experienced problems? I have the very good instruction DVD by Vortex Media and they suggest making my own calibrations in a Picture Profile. If I do that do I have to select PP at all times when switching on? Also that won’t take account of colour temperature changes at each set up. Or does the PP setting combine with a manual white balance operation? Thanks for any enlightenment!

Have you tried using a set of tinted cards to cheat the colour temperature – this might be easier than setting up profiles. The cards mean you have a consistent offset whatever conditions you are balancing with.
