So, I’m recording an interview and the shot runs across card A to card B. Now, the clip from card A and the clip from B have the same name and can’t be put into the same folder. We don’t have FC(P) 6 yet so I don’t know how we’ll deal with this next week when we do have 6.

Why do I call it FC(P)? Because it’s got a long way to go before I’ll call it PRO.

5 Final Cut (not quite PRO) systems
    Sony HVR-M25 HDV deck
Sony EX-1 has arrived and it’s fascinating.

Create a separate folder for each card. There’s a bit of metadata (.smi) which points to the split clips.

I’ve used Sony XDCAM Transfer Tool for clips spanning across cards while cards are in camera. It displays the spanned clip in the Xfer tool on one timeline. Mark in and out and it imports as one clip in FCP 6.0.2. There’s also a checkbox which IDs the clips as a subclip which has same results as above.
