In this popular music video i see a really interesting “zoom freeze” effect. Anyone know if this is a currently existing technique and if so what is it? Or Any idea on how to do something like this? Im guessing its just a photo that has been rotoscoped and each one is indepently zooming while preserving the background.

Oh here’s the URL im referring to in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLhFDYQHDQY&t=2m48s

It’s at 2minutes 48 seconds, the following embedded video doesnt jump you to the exact time.

It looks like it could be a freeze frame, rotoscoped and separated in two or three layers, set in 3d space and a camera travel in animated in AE (or whatever soft they where using).
