  • Creating a reusable template file with custom variables

I am creating a template document that needs to include largely the same text every time its used, with a few words and phrases replaced each time.

    For example:

“The event ran from [start month] to [end month]. Of the [number registered] customers who purchased a ticket, [number participated] attended the event.”

Where the bracketed words are the changeable variables, that are delivered to me from another team.

Obviously I could use a “find and replace” every time, but as there are 20+ variables and they are embedded within the paragraph text, I would love to find a way to automate this to reduce time spent and potential human error. I am a relative beginner to InDesign, so I really appreciate your time!

    Any ideas? Thank you!
