  InDesign CS5 crashes when opening CS4 file

  Hi,

  I’m hoping someone can help me, as I’m on deadline and VERY frustrated. I’m trying to open a CS4 file in CS5 InDesign. The program launches perfectly, and then as soon as I open the file – it gets a little along the way and then InDesign crashes on me. It either locks up and I have to force quit or it will close down and bring up an error reporting notice.

  I’ve tried trashing preferences and reinstalled twice – does anyone have any clue as to why this may be happening?

  On another note (could be related) my whole CS4 suite on the same machine doesn’t open at all. The icon will bounce and then will close itself down again. Any ideas?
