  InDesign options greyed out

  Hello,

  I am trying to put a drop shadow on text but the Effects (or fx) options are greyed out. Why? Is it because I have a 30-day trial version?

  Are you selecting the text itself or just the text frame?

  To apply effects to text, just select the text frame.

  You should select the text frame not the text itself in order to apply the effect.
