  Masters & Setup

  I am new to indesign, but have learned enough to work my way around a little. Have discovered Masters and am creating a brochure and catalog of products. I am having difficulties setting the document up and have questions regarding the book merge (proper name?)feature. My questions are below.

  1. I have set up a number of documents and want to add them to a book. When I create the book to print as 1/2 of the a4 paper size landscaped with 2 pages on the front and 2 on the back, the pages do not print right. They print like

  1
  2
  3
  4

  instead of like

  1 2
  3 4

  Is there something I am missing in the setup of the book to make this happen or is it in the layout of the documents?

  2. I attempted to use the master setup for the pages. I have 2 different pages to choose from in the master. When I add a page, the new page defaults to the 1st master page and I want to override it and use the 2nd page. When I attempt it, indesign adds both pages and does not just choose the 2nd page. What am I missing?
