    Hello all,

I have what may be a simple question, I’m not sure.

Is it possible to import various fields from a file, be it excel or tab-delimited, into various specified fields in an InDesign template, and have it accept the specific fonts and formats of those fields defined by the Indesign template? And if this is all possible, does anyone know of a clear tutorial or site out there that shows how to set up both files?

    Thanks!

Yes, this is called “Data Merge” in InDesign. It is under the “Window>Automation” menu. If you first setup text boxes in Indy to store the data, it will retain the attributes you set for that text box (font size, font type, color, etc…). I’m not sure of any specific tutorials on this, but research “data merge” and I’m sure you’ll find something. (Check the help files too, they are actually quite helpful.)
