Iv’e been searching the web for hours, trying to see if there is anything of help to my problem:

When using syriac: ܠܝܫܢܐ ܣܘܪܝܐ (for a demonstration), the text becomes broken – compare:

    ܠܝܫܢܐ ܣܘܪܝܐ
    ܠ ܝ ܫ ܢ ܐ ܣ ܘ ܪ ܝ ܐ
The first line is joined text, the standard for the language, and how it appears in word – the second is how it appears in indesign (although without the large spacing).

I do not have this problem with Arabic – although that may be a result of the fonts available – the Syriac fonts have no kerning pairs – but have their own place on the unicode table. They are opentype fonts and can be seen here.. https://www.bethmardutho.org/meltho/

    I’m using windows XP SP2
