  Justify text vertically ???

  I have a text box that I want to write some names in..

  I drag the Text tool to create a square.. justify it to left in paragraph..

  Some people have long names.. others have short..

  Wolverhampton
  Wanders v Chelsea

  I want these to justify vertically.. so that “v Chelsea” is in between Wolverhampton and Wanderers.

  I know i can make seperate layers.. but I want to set this up so I can use the comps from Spreadsheet script..

  So I want my text box to Justify vertically to centre..

  I hope this makes sense.. it is very difficult to explain

  any help greatly appreciated

  Provide two images, one of what you now have and another showing what it should look like.

  Baseline Shift is what you’re looking for but I’m unsure if Scripting will allow access to this property.

  And if you’re going to use a script for your solution, then perhaps allowing the script to work with multiple text boxes will work better. If you can set aside a budget for the scripting, I’m sure you can find someone at the COW’s Expression Forum to provide a solution for you.

  No, baseline shift of a line of text is not accessible through scripting.

  I’ve just requested a feature for user-defined vertical alignment for paragraph text. I’d invite the original poster (and anyone else who sees its value) to join me.

  If AE could treat paragraph text like Microsoft products treat text boxes (with both horizontal alignment and justification and vertical alignment), scripting or fancy expressions wouldn’t be necessary.

  Speaking of fancy expressions, you could determine the outer bounds of the text box within an expression with sampleImage() and use this to drive the anchor point, effectively almost doing a middle-align. The baseline wouldn’t be known, though, so alignment would vary slightly for each line according to its ascenders and descenders. It would also render somewhat slowly, so actually trying to make this all work is left as an exercise to the reader…
