How to make a Faceless Man Effect
Hey everyone,
I was wondering how to make a faceless man effect. One similar to the music video here.

I’ve been searching a bunch of after effects tutorials and can’t really find anything similar to this. I’m pretty good with after effects.
My Crew and I have been thinking about whether to do the effect physically by flagging the light very precisely, or to do it in after effects. A lot of the scenes the man is in he will be moving, including a scene where he is fighting. However, in that scene we would block it in a way where the girl he is fighting with blocks his face in most shots except on shaky close ups.
Please let me know if you know of any tutorials, examples, or have any ideas.
My idea was to either track the face and blur/darken it. Or rotoscope it out and darken it and then add in the white for the nose and side of the face after.

There have been lots of similar posts in the past two weeks here at the COW. Me thinks a search for Mocha will show up plenty of advice as well as resources.

But, if you must do this in post, then you can follow some of the techniques for face replacement described by David Torno in this series.
