  • Do I actually need a BMD converter for editing w a client monitor?

If you’ll allow me to ask a newb question:

I’m running a new Mac Pro to a client monitor via HDMI with no converter box in between. I’m not experiencing any sync issues.

I understand that with a BMD mini monitor I’ll get a broadcast-quality signal, but I’m doing mostly web content and am not handling any color correction. I just need a nice HDTV for the rare client session.

My question is: do I actually need any type of converter box?

You shouldn’t need to if it has an HDMI port on both your Mac Pro and monitor, but it’s always better to use SDI.

because $137 for a Mini Monitor is just too much money to spend, if I don’t really have to.
