    Hi there,

I´m just shooting an image film for a huge german company. We shoot on a F3 and record on the Shuttle.
Unfortunately the mounting plate is still not here but a Cardellini does the work, too.

Here are some impressions and some features I´d like to see very soon! Maybe some guys here are interested in requesting some of these, too.

So, here are some fresh experiences and suggestions:

    1. it´s wonderful easy to use – record, playback…nice!!!

    2. we use an adapter from the power socket to XLR 4pin – that works but why
haven´t you fit the Shuttle with a XLR 4pin??? A tool which is supposed to be
used in “real life” on set needs heavy duty connectors (the small BNC are not
heavy duty, too)! The Shuttle itself is rock solid, why are the other parts not?

    3. I do highly request the following features:

    a) clip deletion within Shuttle (with the huge filesizes you need sometimes to
delete a clip which you won´t use anyway in the film)

    b) format media within Shuttle (maybe, you´ve forgotten to format it…for time saving during shooting, and you often don´t have that laptop near the set – when you´re shooting on a rainy day in the woods it´s even helpful to have basic features like this within the Shuttle); or: you´ve rigged the camera on a 130ft crane, you´re sitting up there and the medium is not formatted – you need that format function!!!!!!

    c) changable recording format from uncompressed 4:2:2 10bit to 4:2:2 8bit
(just for more discspace, and sometimes 8bit will do the job, too)

    d) information about remaining free space (storage size and remaining record
time) – you really want to know during shooting if the next take has enough
    space on the drive

    e) direct use via USB without a dock

    f) display button: just supering in some data (remaining space/time, Shuttle/disk status (standby/record), recording format, etc.)

    And nice to have:

    g) clip thumbnail overview (and clip infos: length, etc.) for skipping and
    playback

    h) an alternative codec (like ProRes)

At all we found it a very reliable tool on the set – and it just could be
    better with the suggestions above.

    Greetings
    Rafael

🙂 I second all Rafael requests but I’d add another couple

    i) NTFS file system support (or other Windows friendly one)
    j) MXF file format support (compressed and uncompressed)
