  updowncross upconvert problem…

  hey smart people. i’m new here, so be gentle.

  i’ve got an updowncross converter and i’m trying to upconvert sd-sdi to hd-sdi. i want to output my video at 16:9 but when i select 16:9 zoom it stretches my image to fill the 16:9 format, distorting my image, rather than simply zooming into my SD-SDI image and cutting off the upper and lower parts of the image [which is what i want]. when i use 14:9 pillarbox, i get the behavior i want, just not enough of it. for reasons too complex to go into here, i need this to go to full 16:9 and to cut off the upper and lower sections of the original image.

  any ideas on how to make this work? or is there an alternative box that will do this for me that i won’t have to mortgage my house for?

  no, my sd is regular ol’ 4:3. therein lies the problem. i know if it was already 16:9 what the updowncross is doing to it would be correct…
