I just installed the Intensity Pro into my MacPro and set audio output to Blackmagic Audio in the Systems Preferences. I am using the HDMI output to my external monitor, and I have the L/R RCA audio output jacks connected to my powered mixer and speakers. The audio works fine EXCEPT the only way to control volume and panning now is by adjusting the mixer – the Mac keyboard’s volume keys, and the Menu bar’s volume slider do nothing. Trying to adjust volume and panning in the Systems Preference’s Audio Output dialogue box do nothing as well. The same is also true of Mute – it now has no effect.

Is there some setting I am missing somewhere? I can find no reference in the manual.

    Thanks for your help.

I received a response from Blackmagic concerning my question on audio control:

This is normal and to be expected. After installing Intensity, all video and
audio must be coming from the card. If you try to do video out of the card
and audio from the soundcard, due to being two different sources, there will
be two clocks and a/v will be out of sync. As such, both a/v need to be tied
    to the card.

So either line out of the mac or Intensity, but audio controls in Apple will
not make any adjustments on Intensity side of things.

This may not be what you wanted to hear but at least you will know why this
is the case. If you have any questions, let me know.

Media Express is mainly for capturing as far as the Intensity goes. Drop the clips in an NLE, See Blackmagics website for compatible third party programs that can use the Intensity, and its volume, mute, pan should all work. Danny Hays
