    Hi Decklink Guys…

i have still problem with decklink and PPro CS5.0.1.
My projects are mostly Decklink mjpeg 16:9 setting.
Digibeta is imported via SDI also as mjpeg with my decklink HD Extreme.

    Problem 1.
When i do a dissolve from black to the clip, the dissolve isn´t good.
i starts from black and gets brighter and the its jump to 100% capacity!

    Problem 2.
when i reverse the speed to -50% or something else, the input and output tc change. to say: it ins´t more the same clip! when i scale the clipto by example 101,1% and render it, it´s okay agein!

    Problem 3.
When i digitize a clip (via SDI from Drigibeta) and i put in a TC in and output and push “capture in to out” when it´s finished with digitizing, the clip is there but somethimes he lose the in and ouput TC….to say he clip starts at 00.00.00.00!

    Problem 4 and biggest problem:
when i render my timeline PPro crashes much times.
    He say “Backend.dll” problem!!!

I have a Decklink HD extreme with 7.6.4 driver,
Windows 7 ultimate prof 64 bit 6.01.7600 with all updates avaible today, Intel Core 2Quad Q9300,
    8Gb DDR2-SDRAM,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX285 with up-to-date driver and
one IDE System disk and 2 Sata disk as raid.
Only Windows, Premiere Pro CS5.0.1 and Decklink installed…no other software!

    Thanks for any sugeestions

There are many problems with DECLINK and CS5…..drivers are problematic, and basicly, BLACKMAGIC is degrading the Premiere CS5 performance….I am sorry to say that, I was a big fan of Blackmagic, but this is true!

Try to work in NON BLACKMAGIC sequence it is all working fine…

I will post one link to Adobe forums, which is talking about the same problems with Intensity performance. I am sorry if this is not usual in Creative Cow forum, and my apologies to forum moderators, but this can help you see that you are not alone.

    🙂

    Hi,

I think Claus-Peter’s issues are unrelated to your post. I’ll address your issues in your own thread.

In my opinion the Blackmagic drivers are not ready for CS5.
While I am using Intensity Pro, not what you are using, I also just today had the Backend.dll runtime error. That was today!
For the past week nothing but problems working with the Blackmagic presets. Adobe presets work great! Here is a brief rundown .

Msvcr90.dll App error crash (cleared up after Microsoft updates)
That would occur randomly editing/playback from timeline.

Decklinkapi64.dll App errors (crash) while editing from timeline

BMDPlayer.prm App errors (crash) while editing from timeline

Unable to “hold frame on in point” using a BM preset.

and to top it off Poor performance when compared to using Adobe presets with my mediocre Nvidia 9600 GT

I don’t use a Blackmagic capture card anymore gave up with cs3, to much hassle with un-stable drivers and Adobe said, etc.

What is causng these problems, are they going to be fixed? Or should the cards just be used on a MAC with Final Cut pro? Seems Mac users with the cards have less issues?

I am also experiencing problems #1 and #4 as described by Claus.
Additionally–and seemingly related to problem #1–dissolves involving Premiere titles seem to brighten the alpha of the title, just for the duration of the dissolve, then alpha pops back to normal.

I upgraded to the Blackmagic 7.7.2 driver yesterday and have not since experienced problem #4–crash while building preview files.

The upgrade did not solve problem #1–unusual dissolves. However, this seems only to happen when GPU acceleration is turned on. Switch Premiere to “Mercury Playback Engine Software Only” and dissolves are handled normally.

    Update!

The Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 5.0.3 update fixes all preview file and rendering inconsistencies — no more unusual dissolves. Everything looks great now with GPU Acceleration on.

I’ve been running CS 5.0.3 along with Blackmagic’s latest 7.9.4 driver for awhile now, and so far-so good. I hope these updates help the original poster of this thread as well. Happy editing, all!
