  • Will Intensity Shuttle Pro be available for Mac?

Posted by Mike Schmitt on June 1, 2010 at 3:54 pm

    Hi there,
I’ll be buying a Decklink Extreme when the Scarlet S35 is available, but the release of that camera is so far away that there will likely be a newer Decklink released before then.

So, I’m looking at the Intensity Shuttle Pro and I see it’s not available for Mac yet.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a release of the shuttle for Mac any time soon?

    Thanns

    Hi Mike,

The only thing stopping it from working on Macs is the lack of USB 3.0 connections on the Macs. Should Apple start supporting USB 3.0, we will definitely want the Intensity Shuttle and all our other USB 3.0 products to work on Macs as well.

What about a USB 3 PCI card? Do you think it would work with one of those?

I like the features of the Shuttle Pro better than the PCI card.

    Hi Mike,

Can you point me to a Mac compatible PCIe USB 3.0 card?

Okay. That is the magic question. I did a search on Amazon.com for USB 3 Mac PCI and got several hits. Now that I look at them they are 3 port USB 2 or similar.

What is up with Apple not supporting USB 3?

I want to use the Intensity to color time my films. Looks like the best the PCi card does is 1080I.

Think that might be good enough till Scarlet comes out?

    What about this one:

    https://bestofferbuy.com/USB-3.0-High-Speed-2-Port-PCI-E-Card-(5Gbps)-p-51736.html?currency=USD&utm_source=gbase&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=gbase

Any other news on this? And why does the shuttle support 1080p @ 30p while the Pro only supports 1080i?

I hope it will work with Mac soon, because it currently does not work with Bootcamp either.
