Hi – I have recently purchased a new Blackmagic HD Extreme card. Running After Effects and Premiere CS4 I seem to be getting poor quality video preview on the HDMI output. Is this to be expected? Will the best quality previews come from the HD-SDI out? The footage in the preview windows on my main monitor looks fantastic, and with the Blackmagic codecs I seem to be getting a lot better results than with the Matrox cards I had on older machines. I just hoped to show clients brilliant quality HD video on a 2nd monitor….

    Hello Tom,

What are your project settings? And what HDMI monitor do you have?

    Hi Leo,

I have tried various different project settings – all of Blackmagic’s standard HD 1080i and 1080p, plus the HDV versions.

The monitor I have at the moment for video preview is a HP w2408h.
It is 1920×1200 and has been used with other video cards to good results so not sure why the BM card wouldn’t be as good?
