  Multibridge Pro 2- Quicktime Playback is choppy.

  I am certain there is a simple explanation for this that I just don’t know.

  When I play a clip (XDCAM-EX, 1280×720 in this case) via Quicktime and using the Multibridge Pro (version 2) HDMI out to play it full screen to my plasma it is very choppy. Actually most things are choppy using the MBPv2 with Quicktime’s “present movie” feature.

  Though in FInal Cut I don’t have that issue when using the MBPv2 and my playback settings. Is it that simple – that since Quicktime offers no output settings, I can’t expect smooth output from a non NLE app? Are there suggestions for smooth playback using Quicktime player and the MBPv2 alone?

  Hi,

  You’ve answered our own question. Quicktime does not support Quicktime VOUT which is used by Final Cut Pro, After Effects and many other NLE / Video applications to output video via hardware. When you do a “Present Movie”, you’re simply using the DeckLink desktop we provide as a graphics card output so the Quicktime clip is actually overlayed over.
