BMD update 6.8.4
Posted by David Cheok on December 7, 2008 at 11:27 amIs anyone else having a problem with the latest firmware update?
When i update the drivers/firmware, my LCD output screen keeps flashing on/off and the OSD shows intermittent connection via the HDMI. Seems signals (both audio and visual) are switching on and off.
I’ve reverted back to 6.8.1 for the time being. Any solutions?Running on OSX 10.5.5 and FCP 6.0.5

December 11, 2008 at 2:50 amI could not install 6.8.3. I reverted back to 6.8.1.
I had to pull my Decklink HD Extreme card in order to get my Mac Pro to even start up without the flashing screen and the shut down warning.
It seems to be running fine now with 6.8.1. -

December 13, 2008 at 7:57 pmHi All
At the moment, these seem to be the only reports of this type of problem with the 6.8.3 driver. I need to confirm from each of you exactly what problems you are seeing.
At the moment the problems discussed are:
Decklink 6.8.3 driver does not install the hardware (greyed out system preffs) and Blackmagic Applications
Mac will not start with Decklink 6.8.3 and hardware installed.
(David Cheok) Intermittent flashing on HDMI output on startup.
What I’d like to do is get a copy of your system profiles and Decklink serial numbers, and please send them over to:
support-emea@blackmagic-design.com
If you could also include a description of the exact problems you are seeing that would really help. From this I can look into this further and see if there is a common cause/solution.

December 13, 2008 at 8:03 pmThe problem is as stated:
After update of firmware, reboot. OSX starts up. If desktop is set, then the LCD starts flashing black and back. If i set the system info on the LCD to display, it starts showing the connection is turning on and off.
Tried it with setting to display black and the same occurs when i run FCP.I’ve reverted to 8.1 by uninstalling and reapplying the firmware patch (after a full shutdown) and that works fine.
I’ll email the serial over tomorrow morning. What profile do you mean?

December 14, 2008 at 12:49 pmHi David
If you got to Apple>>System Preferences>>About this Mac, and then click on the more button, you will get the System Profile Utility open.
From here you can save your system profile as an .XML file so it can be sent to the support office.
